Unable to access the internet

We recently installed a Sprint PCS wireless card on one of our manager's laptops. He connects fine to the internet and can use a VPN to connect to our network here at work but he is unable to access the internet completely! When IE 6 sp1 is opened it only displays that the page can not be diplayed. It doesn't matter what site we try to go to (even Microsoft.com) none of them can be shown. Since then we have also discovered the same problem using Earthlink and a local internet provider. When dialed in we can not view anything on the internet with Internet Explorer but we can ping anything we have tried. We have tried a couple Windows 2000 machines and they don't have the same problem

We have tried about everthing we can think of with no luck! It makes no difference how you are logged on to the laptop (as Administrator or user) and no difference between connected to our business network or not.
We think it might be a policy from our network that is causing the problem but don't have a clue which one it might be. And if it is a policy from our network, why is it restricting XP users and not 2000 users

ANY ONE have ANY SUGGESTIONS?
 
I have seen this problem before and it was caused by Norton Internet
Security, the only fix I found was to uninstall it, If you are using NIS on
the laptop try disabling or uninstalling it.

We use Norton Enterprise Antivirus but no Internet Security. We will try to uninstall that and see if it makes any difference
