Hello,

Under WinXP-Pro, I cannot access the floppy drives under a limited
account. It works ok as an admin. I can see the drive, I can view the
contents of the drive, but I cannot open any of the files on the drive.
I was looking for the root drive permissions, but I cannot find where
it is. There is *NO* security tab when I view the properties of the
drive. Help.

Greetings :

To access security tab Control Panel\folder options\View\untick on use
simple file sharing (recommended)..

Hope this helps.

That has already been done. There is still no security tab on the
floppy drives...Or hard drives for that matter so I cannot set
permissions on the drive root.

Make your own "Security Console" from where you can apply security or
permission rights to any disk, file, object, user group, etc.

This is what you need to do: Command prompt or Start\Run\mmc\file menu\add
or remove complement\add\security templates\add & close\accept\go to file
system\right click\add file\select drive\accept\add user or group and apply
security as you would in the security tab\Read the add object box for
properly applying security.... File Menu\Save As\Rename and select folder to
save to or create new folder right there\save\exit\save security templates?
Yes...

You can add new objects anytime...

Hope this helps.

It didn't...

But, I think that I may have found something. If I look at the
harddisks, there are shares called C$, D$, etc, which I can set
permissions on. Interestingly, it let me open a share called A$ and B$
and let me set the permissions that way, but it does not show up as a
share. I'll let you know how that works.
