Unable to access after updates

After updates were installed I was unable to use my memory stick through a
usb cable, and also not able to download picture from my digital camera
thourgh a usb cable. But my printer still works which is also using a usb
connection, I am looking for any ideas that may help fix this problem.

Which specific update are you referring to? provide good details.
Are you talking about the very same USB port having a problem in both examples?

Disconnect the printer from its usb connection. Try using 'that' usb port to see if your memory stick is accessible, then try using digital camera at same usb slot. If they both work, it would tend to say that the 1 usb port has a likely physical problem.

Also, check out the entries in Device Manager.
Start button/ Run / type
devmgmt.msc <enter> -- or Go to Control Panel ----Device Manager. Take a good look at list of devices. Expand lists & look at each device. Are there any marked with exceptions?


Start button/ Run / type
eventvwr.msc<enter> -- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.
Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings of very recent dates. Double click---the information may give some clue.

Uninstall the update that caused the problem.
