Hello all,

Could someone help me with my serious problem?

I had to reinstall windows XP and on this I lost the first administrator
user. Now logging as a administrator user, I can to see the the
the other directory at:

E:\Documents and Settings\xaime

but if I click on it, I get the error: "Unable to access"

The user "xaime" was administrator, now I have the user "xaime2" as
administrator.

I have a lot of personal information on this directory, could someone help
me to recover this user or access to the content of this directory?

thanks

I am rusty and have done no research on this but here we go...

Is this Windows XP Home or Pro? Are you running on an NTFS system? I am
assuming you are running NTFS in which case some of the permissions are not
allowing you to do anything with the old files. Here is what you can do...

1. Right click on the folder containing the files in question.
2. Click on the security tab at the top.
3. You will see a list of users, click on your current user and check allow
for everything you can.
4. Click OK.
5. I believe these permissions filter down to all the files in the folder,
if they do not you can try this for each file.
6. If you don't see the security tab it is because you are using simple
file shariing, you will have to change this by following the instructions in
the following URL...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307874

I am probably wrong on at least some of this but it may help you get in the
right direction.
