un-highlighting newly installed programs

Is there a way of disabling the feature of highlighting
newly installed programs? for some reason they dont want
to go away, even after i have run the program. it is
making my windows look ugly :(

Hi Laney
Rightclick 'Start'-button, choose Properties/Start-menu
tab/Customize/Advanced tab/ and uncheck 'highlite newly installed programs'
