Hi all

can anyone help please? I am unable to log in my pass word to go in to xp
home version, as my keyboard wont work, i have tried other keyboads with it
no success, so its not the keyboard.
Because the key board wont work I cant get into the Bios to get it to start
from a cd,
I have a floppy drive an I get something on a floppy to sort this problem
out, as without the keyboard im stuck!
I would appreciate some help. Thank you

The keyboard should work before Windows boot, so you will be able to get
into BIOS at that time. If it's not working at that time, then It is not
related to Windows. Either the keyboard is bad or the connection.
Try PS/2 if you are using USB
OR
USB if you are using PS/2

As you have discovered, you can not accomplish basic computer tasks without
a working keyboard.
If you are using a PS2 keyboard, try a USB keyboard.
If you are using a USB keyboard, try a PS2 keyboard.
Good luck,
Steve

It seems that the part that the keyboard connects to may not work, because
before it loads windows (during the POST), if the keyboard works, and the
connector works, then there is a 100% certainty that it will work.

Also, make sure that the keyboard is not plugged into the spot for the mouse.
That can cause a problem. If the connector is color-coded, it should be
purple, not green.

Hi again
thank you Johnathan & Ayush, you agree with Og.the keyboard is conected
properly
and has been working fine, i really need to get into Bios to boot up with a
cd, if thats not possible i will get a usb keyboard.I just cant long on with
my password.

You know, don't you, that the BIOS has zilch to do with whether you can log
on to XP?

Well, not strictly true, eh. If settings are messed up in the BIOS you'll
never get a chance to try to login to Windows. :-)
