Or maybe it's because here in the UK we have to pay such a freakishly
large amount of tax to subsidise Tony Blairs and Gordon Browns latest
follies. Now see what you've done, you've started me
There are mathematically different tax systems.
I once lived in a country with progressive tax, that means that the
higher income you have, the higher percentage you pay.
Then it was changed into a tax system where everybody pays the same
percentage, which was better for the rich, but they were still not
really happy.
So now we have a tax system where we pay the same amount for all, which
is a lot better for the rich. To them it is nothing to pay 1000 dollars
in property tax each year, but for the low income person it means he
has to sell his house.
The tv license is the same amount for all, the cost for getting health
care, the cost for garbage collection, as many other fees which have
replaced the once progressive tax, so we essentially have a tax system
today which is very advantageous for the rich.
I understand that a similar change has been going on in the UK.
The only tax we have that is fair to the poor is the horse running
around in circles tax. That is a tax for people who have too much money
and no knowledge of math.
If they listen to the horse experts they get the impression that they
have some intelligence and something will be better, but no positive
real action so far.
They put money on horses, on football, on other things you can bet
about.
They win back 30% average so 70% is taken in tax.
Now they want to privatize this tax system so the surplus money goes
back to the rich instead of to the state monopoly betting company.
For all these tax systems a simple calculator program works well, like
the freeware ESB calculator.
