An install of easy cd creator platinum had no access for
direct cd. (A rudmentary service). So I uninstalled it
via control panel. Apon rebooting I get an error message
from windows xp Can't load UdfReadr.SYS because of direct
cd. All easy cd creator has been unstalled. But somehow
direct cd of easy cd creator has a hook into windows xp.

Without UdfReadr.SYS loading I have no cd-rom drive now.
I did a search of my registry for directcd and removed
those entries. Deleted the directory for easy cd creator
in windows explorer.

But still UdfReadr.SYS can't be loaded because of Directcd

Device manager for the cd drive indicates "Windows cannot
load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may
be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Does anyone have an Idea ?

Larry,

Download this Registry fix and apply: www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
Removes references to Easy CD Creator (earlier versions of Adaptec/Roxio Easy CD Creator causes this error)

Thanks Reamesh, That worked. The cd-rom didn't come up at
reboot. But using device manager I uninstalled drivers
and then added new new hardware and plug and play
reinstalled the cd-rom
