NoWhereMan

Hello all. I got my Ubuntu disks in the mail and I'm trying to figure out
how to use my DSL connection from the live disk. Anyone know how to
configure the setup so I can use my modem?

Thanks.

if you have a router open a terminal and type

sudo pppoeconf

if you're using an usb modem, then you can't... and if you could it
wouldn't worth the pain, as you'd loose all you did when rebooting.

Are you sure that's a live disk? Do you have your dsl modem hooked
directly to your computer or is it on a lan? Is it a wireless nic? So
many questions, so little time...

Seems that some SpeedTouch modems work in Linux, but it is a bit
complex.

Mine does work, but I'd never configure it on a live cd, as I have to d/l
kernel sources, first!

In fact; I use a cheap "winmodem" that works well under Linux, but I
need the kernel sources and the C/C++ compiler to get it running.
(which is not a problem, as I actually don't mind recompiling kernels)
