Does anyone have a list of the typical background
processes (i.e. when viewed from Task Mgr) and what they
are doing and who they belong to? This would really help
in IDing rogue processes. Thanks in advance for any help.

It's hard to determine, cuz' I'd need to know exactly what
hardware & software you have installed on your computer.
One thing I do know is if there's anything listed with
your windows login name next to it - you can probably shut
it all down EXCEPT "taskmgr" and "explorer".
Here's a site that lists ALOT of files that either startup
or run in the background... They give a description of
each, and then you can decide if it's a necessity or not
(such as your printer ink monitoring software).
The list is a little confusing; you have to click on the
BLUE lettered button to see each file in that alphabetical
list... Here's the site, good luck!
