I'm coding a website in C# dotNet 2.0, and I need a freeware component for
asking the user to type in the text you see in an image.
As a security for that is is indeed a real user that's accessing the page
and not a robot.
Does anyone know if there is such a component available anywhere?
What is the name of this functionality?

Kind Regards,
Allan Ebdrup

Hi Allan,

As Marc and samuelhon replied, it's called CAPTCHA. You may find following
two examples of .NET components:

#CAPTCHA Image - The Code Project - ASP.NET
http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/CaptchaImage.asp

#Coding Horror: An ASP.NET CAPTCHA Server Control
http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000094.html

Just as a note, CAPTCHA implemented in this way does not conform to
accessibility standards.

Let us know if you need further information.

Sincerely,
Walter Wang ([email protected], remove 'online.')

most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
