When I look in my Windows folder I have a ton of text documents with names
like KB888302, KB888369, etc. They range in size from 16kb to 45kb. What
are these files?

They are log files created when an update or hotfix for Windows
is installed on your computer. You should find a corresponding
hidden folder named $NtUninstallKB888302$. The folder contains
the files needed to uninstall the update. You can go to Control
Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab to configure your system to
display these folders.

If after a reasonable amount of time you feel that the update
is working properly and will not have to be removed from your
system, you can delete the folder and the log file. Here's a
utility that will automate the process.
