I want to transfer a .txt file, containing a kind of batch from one pc to
another.
Pc A runs win2K, pc B runs 98SE.
When moving this file from the harddisk of PC A via an usb disk or CD rom to
Pc B,
the contents seem to have changed when opening the file in W98SE : some
lines have been broken (a line contains valuable data, marked by " " symbols
and separated by , - example :

"data1","data2","data3","data4","","data5","" (line is somewhat 5x as
long )

After being transferred, the line looks like this :

"data1","data2","data3","
data4","","data5","" (identical as above,
only the line has been broken)

The file is opened in Wordpad in Win98SE, not in Notepad - because there are
more than 5000 lines, Notepad can't take that much. Still, there are longer
lines than the ones affected, to which nothing has happened - so I don't
think it is a line length problem.

This issue quite messes up our software, I am unable to find the source or
fix for this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

(I also posted this one in Win98 discussion, sorry for double post, don't
really know which OS causes the problem)

One fix may be to use a third party application like Note Pad Light. And it's
free.

Yeppers, thx for catching that. Just tired I guess.
I have used that little program quite a bit and others, but it stable and does
the basics and does not have the same size restrictions a the OS text editor.

Did you mean 'Note Tab Lite'?
