Two Systems die with in one Day HELP

I have to fully licensed verisions of xp pro one week ago both systems froze
and upon reboot they fail to boot niether will boot in safe mode. Did a
recent patch come out that might have caused this and is ther any fix? Both
Systems are running fully updated symantec virus protection. updated daily
and auto windows updates

Patches are released on the second tuesday of each month.
