I have a laptop that I use for work and one for home. Both require the use
of a static ip address. When I'm at work I cannot surf the internet, but at
home I can, so I'm sure it's the gateway. ( I can access all other shares,
etc) I have both gateways entered, but for some reason it won't use the one
at work, but it will use the correct one at home. How can I solve this
problem? Can this be handled under hardware configuration?

TIA

Another way is to use the same IP address on your home router (change it's
IP address) as the one at work.

I used Ctrl-F to go to configure. Also this only works if one connection
relies on DHCP.

Jack, so your saying there isn't a present alternative within XP that will
allow this? Funny how the ip and subnet mask work fine, but the gateway
part doesn't work.

Which one do you think is best? (any experiences?) Will it work ok with a
VPN as well?

thanks!

Use an alternate configuration :
Rt. click connection>Hi-light TCP\IP>properties>alternate configuration
tab>user defined option>enter office IP
