Hello all:

Prob #1: (Annoying but not critical) - Win XP Pro SP1, states that the
Automatic Windows Update (Engine) is not installed. Where did it go? It was
always installed and worked just fine, then it disappeared. Now I have to
update windows patches etc. manually, a pain for sure ?????? (was missing
prior to virus attack below).

Prob #2: Had a major virus problem. Only one program giving a problem since
the cleanup. Train Simulator, Route Control got an error "runtime error
#53 - cannot find file DIjpg.dll" I have re-installed the most recent
runtime version (6.0) and have re-installed the Route Control proggy several
times. It installs everything, then the whole window disappears without a
trace. No shut down, no nothing, it's just gone... We have recovered
DIjpg.dll and installed it into every single place it could possibly be of
any use (system files, prog files etc.) still no joy. Probably needs a
registry entry to go with but I have no idea where to write it or what to
write. Can anyone be of assistance?

Thanks so very much in advance,
Jill R.

Prob #2: try this:

put the DIjpg.dll in the Windows\System32 directory (no need elsewhere)
Now go to Start|Run and type regsvr32.exe DIjpg.dll
Press Enter and you should get a message that all is well and good.

Hi Jopa: Now at least we are getting somewhere! I did as you suggested and
got the following error:

"DIjpg.dll file loaded but DllregisterServer entry point not found. The file
cannot be registered"

What would the solution be for that? TIA so very much, Jill

I'm a bit out of my league on this, but could be that your two problems are
related. First I would run the System File Checker.

Go to Start|Run and type cmd
Pressing ENTER gives the command window
Type sfc /scannow
press ENTER and be sure to have your Windows Installation disk handy.

After this, go to Windows Update
Install any patches

If still no joy - Uninstall Windows .NET in the Add/Remove List
Go back to Windows Update to re-install it.
