Two email addresses in contact lists

This appears to be a case of software trying to be too smart. I have
several contacts with multiple email addresses. For example, for Joe Blow I
might have:

JoeB@address1 (display name Joe @home)
JoeB@address2 (display name Joe @ work)

If want to send an email to Joe @ work. I click on "To" and the Select
Names dialog pops up. For JoeB, the default address is address1. No other
option is available.

If I manually type JoeB@adress2 in the To box, Oultlook will convert the
entry to Joe@address1. If I wast to send the email to both addresses,
forget it. If I type JoeB in the To box, Outlook will again convert it to
Joe@Address1.

Who do I make Outlook stop converting entries and just send the emeil to the
address I typed in?

I am running Outlook 2000 SP3.

You probably are using one of the old Internet Mail Only versions of Outlook
that was unable to support the Outlook Address Book.
The Outlook Address Book always lists all electronic addresses.

I'm here for the same reason as Tom. I think it's ironic that several
people here want only one entry per contact to show while addressing an
email and I *can't get* more than the default to show when clicking on the
"TO:". I, too, often want to send something to someone at both their home
and work email address and can't.

Look at line 2 of Help | About
Does it say "Internet Mail Only?"

Well, my address book comes from my contacts which came from a Palm sync.
This is a brand new load of Outook (Office) 2000 on a new laptop (XP) so
whatever Outlook decided to do with 'em when I sync'd the Palm (sunk?) is
what it did. I still don't know how to fix it. Thanks for your time and
consideration.

Can't look at it right now. Will answer this tomorrow. I know that you're sitting on pins and needles waiting for it. :-)

I already know it does because that is the only mode that fails to list each
electronic address separately. You can always switch to Corp/Workgroup mode
so you can use the Outlook Address Book, unless there are other reasons you
need to use IMO mode.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Problem solved. You were, of course, right and I've changed it. What I haven't figured out yet is what the downside is to being a Corporate Workgroup. With my luck there'll be one. Anyway, thanks again for your time and trouble.

You can compare the two modes here:
