I use Word 2003. I use document templates that have a logo with a picture
object in the headline of the document template. When I open a new document
using the template, I get two separate windows that open: One with the
documnet, and another, that has only the picture object in it. I don't need
the second document, and I close it manually every time. Why does it happen?

Strange... Is this a totally separate document window? Or is it a "pane" within
the main window, with buttons such as one labelled "Close"?

If you hold down the SHIFT key when creating the new document (to prevent Auto
macros from executing) do you still see the behavior? My best guess would be an
AutoNew macro or a Document_New event.
