I was a bit surprised (and disappointed) after downloading the Win XP
version of TweakUI, in that the ADD/Remove function is no longer there. Will
the Win98 version still work with WinXP?

Thanks.

No tweak UI 1.33 for Win98 will not work in XP.

you can remove or edit them yourself though
Goto Start>>Run>>Type "regedit"
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\
Uninstall, and remove/edit any unwanted keys under "Uninstall."

Thanks Chris.

TweakUI 1.33 works exactly as well for Windows XP as it does for Windows 98.
That is, there are a very few things to watch out for even in Win98, and
they're essentially the same list that one should watch out for using it
with Win XP.

I use both versions -- 1.33 and 2.x -- side by side on Win XP. My general
recommendation is to use the XP version if it has the features you want,
otherwise use 1.33.

For remarks on what exact features have problems when this is used in Win98
or later, see my Powertoys FAQ:

Not that aspect of it. I took this point up with the author - his
response is that in XP if a program has been removed and the attempt to
remove it again fails, then you should be offered the chance to remove
the entry . But that does not always work in practice. To do it
manually, use regedit.exe, open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
and delete the relevant subkey from it

Thanks very much, Alex.
