I posted this once before, but did not receive the info I
need. One of the windows tweaks fixes this problem, but
i cannnot remember which one:

The view of items within folders on my desktop keeps
reverting to Icon view even though I keep selecting
Details view. It just started doing this. How can I get
it to give me the view I want without constantly changing
from icons to details each time I open a folder?

I was told: Open Explorer/click "View" and select
Details. Then
Select tools/folder options/"View" tab and click "Apply
to All Folder" button/"Yes" button.

However, I don't want it to apply universally, as this
fix
does. Also, the problem is more than this.
Unfortunately, I am going
to be vague here becasue I do not remember the
windows "tweak" I had to use on my other computer.
Windows imposes some sort of a size limit on something (I
told you it was vague) that had to be changed to keep the
view from reverting. But I don't remember what tweak it
was. Does it have something to do with BagMRU Size?

This is what i did and it worked great for me.

If you've ticked "Remember each folder's view settings" in "My Computer",
"Tools",
"Folder Options", "Views"

Then go to here in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags
Delete the Keys "BagsMRU" and "Bags".
Restart Windows.

Then go to:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
and add a DWORD called
BagMRU Size
and give it a value of
000003e8
Then go to :-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam
make a DWORD called
BagMRU Size
and give it a value of
000003e8

Now you can change each folder to the way you want them and the setting will
stay
for at least 1000 views.
