Can I selectively turn off the XP balloon alerts?

I need to disable the "Your computer may be at risk, automatic updates is turned off..."
balloon.

Thanks!

Bill.

If you have anti-virus up to date, you will not see this message! That's for
you pay attention.

Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Change the way Security Center
alerts me > Uncheck the "Automatic Updates" Alert Setting

Today Bill commented courteously on the subject at hand
My anti virus is Norton, and it has nothing to do with
Windows Automatic Update.
I have System Works 2006 and it complains bitterly everytime I
restart Windoze because I have Auto Update set to "notify".
Seems Norton wants to "protect" me in a way I don't want to be
protected.

Is this what you're talking about? I gave up trying to solve
this and just ignore the messages. NAV also doesn't like it if
I turn off virus checking for out-going mail or try to turn
off worm blocking.

I think "helpful" messages in the vein of "I'm from the
government and here to help you" need to have a global switch
so that once you're properly informed of the real or perceived
risk, you can get on with your life the way you want to live
it.

That did it - thanks!!!
