Hi there ... I have a spreadsheet that has values in one column, with a total at the bottom. However the last cell prior to the total, I do not want included in the total. So I have an =SUM formula that does not include that cell ... but everytime I type something in that particular cell, the =SUM formula auto-updates itself to include that cell. How do I turn off this auto-update? The answer to this is probably so simple, but I'm blind to it .

Shaz,

Tools - Options - Edit - "Extend list formats and formulas." Turn it off.
