I have two computers, one with Win XP, one with Win 2000 Pro; they both have
nic cards and are connected to a dsl router to a dsl modem; the internet
connection is set up on both comps.

The XP 'puter has the printer; the printer has been set for sharing and the
LAN has 'File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks' enabled. I am
trying to allow the 2000 'puter to use the printer but it isn't detecting
the printer.

I remember it has to do with using the xp disk in win 2000 to download some
drivers to
get the machines to talk to one another
Maybe someone else can expand on this.

Hi,

Have you installed the Win2000 printer drivers on the Win2000 machine?

I 'think' the 2000 'puter would detect the printer, THEN it would check if
it needs the drivers or not....but it's not successfully doing the
detection.
