trying to sendemail getting error about host

im trying to send an email, and outlook express ia telling me that the host
smtp could not be found. what can i do to get this corrected. this always
happens

Enter the FULL name of your mail server. "smtp" is not a sufficient
name. Call your ISP or look at their help web pages to see how to
configure e-mail account within your e-mail program.
