trying to play dvd

Hi,
I am trying to play some dvds my freind gave me and they won't play. Am I doing something wrong? I play it under intervideo but it still won't play. I feel I have done everything. Could you please help.

Hey,

Well, have you tried playing the DVD on another 3rd party program like:

1) Power DVD -
http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/products/product_main.jsp?ProdId=28
2) Cliprex - http://www.cliprex.com/

If the problem still persists try consulting your dvd drive company.

Commercial DVDs, or one that someone made on their PC or standalone
recorder? If the latter, be sure that the disk was finalized.

There are many DVD formats, and not all machines play every one. PC DVD
players may handle more formats than standalone players, but that does not
guarantee that the disk will play.
