Trying to instal XP on system with m.e.

When attempting to install xp pro I get a message stating 'dwwin has caused an error in kernel32.dll, and will now close' This obviously prevents me from installing it and I can't delete the troublesome files. Can you give me any advice

Boot the XP CD-Rom to start the install. Always best to install OS's on
separate partitions.
