Thanks so much; I appreciate that. Now, how would I
create a new folder in "My Shortcuts" under the drop down
bar?

You can drag from the tree list into any category, or grouping, in the
Outlook Bar. All the dragging does is create a *copy* shortcut (i.e.,
it is not a unique shortcut so the same folder in the tree list can be
present under multiple groups in the Outlook Bar). If instead you are
asking how to create a shortcut to some target that is NOT a folder in
the tree list (i.e., you want an external link to an object outside your
message store), then just right-click in the Outlook Bar and create a
new shortcut. Select "File System" instead of whatever is the name of
your currently loaded mail profile. The limitation here is that you
cannot create a totally new shortcut (i.e., you don't get to enter the
URL) but have to browse to an existing object on your system.
I dumped the Outlook Bar years ago. It wastes valuable space for
displaying the headers in the message list pane and the body of the
selected message in the Preview pane. Every folder in my message store
is shown in the tree list so the Outlook Bar just duplicates folders
that are already in the tree list. By the time I have to navigate
around in the Outlook Bar to expand a collapsed group and scroll around
to use a shortcut there, I could've found that same folder in the tree
list more quickly. Another problem is if you ever switch to using a
different message store (i.e., change .pst files). The links in the
Outlook Bar do *not* get updated so they point at folders in a message
store that you may no longer have opened in Outlook and you'll get
errors when you try to use those shortcuts. In fact, I have seen the
shortcuts in the Outlook Bar get corrupted even when you do not change
your message store (i.e., the shortcuts in the Outlook Bar no longer
point to valid objects in the message store) and you have to delete them
and recreate them. Too flaky for me.
