Hello Please help
I am attempting to work with my mom and assist her
learning how to use a PC. I am having trouble gaining
access to her PC. After I accept her invitation to
for Remote assstance the PC attempt to work it out but I
recieve this message and we are unable to get beyond this
point. we can exchange messages but we are unable to use
the remote assistance feature.

"Remote Assistance connection could not be established
because the remote host name could not be resolved.
Please try again"

We both have XP pro
and are using Windows messenger.
Would the use of MSN messenger resolve this issue?
Mom lives in an assisted living and has wireless access
through the facility. I can use the remote assistance
with other family members who have a direct dsl line. Is
part of our problem on the assisted living facility end.
Do I need them to set Mom's PC up differently?

Thanks for you assistance.

Gerry

Sounds like a firewall issue...or your Mom's pc needs to
have the "allow remote assistance" setting enabled.
Can't remember where it is right now..but I had to set it
on *my* Mom's pc before I shipped it to her...also make
sure you're running ver 4.7 of *Windows* Messenger or
you'll get an error message saying that you'll have to
install that first.
