In a lot of cases you must uninstall NSW completely before trying to
reinstall. This means editing the registry and deleting leftover files and
folders. Not sure which version you are trying to install or uninstall so
take a look here for directions:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...install+Norton+SystemWorks&btnG=Google+Search .
I have used Norton SystemWorks for 3 - 4 years now and it can be frustrating
to uninstall and sometimes getting it to install but overall is a good
program. I have tried NSW2004 however and cannot recommend it if you are
running a slower CPU or inadequate memory. It slows everything down on an
already slower computer but is not noticeably slower on a faster one.
NSW2003 is the best I've tried in the last few years. If you have access to
that use it. There may be something else comparable to NSW but it is more
than just an antivirus program and I know of nothing that has all these
features built into one program.

i have been trying to install norton system works for 10 days now and i
can not get it to install due to it saying it has an error in the file
system. it must have exclusive access to files in order to install. what are
they talking about and is there another program i can get instead of the
norton. i have had more problems with norton and would gladly switch if i
new of a better system.
