Trouble with fonts changing on me

I am new to Frontpage 2003, finding a few bugs (probably with me). I am
starting a new website. I set the default font to Andy, and have also tried
ComicSans. Both are fairly common and should be supported on most browsers. I
am working on my website in a font, then when I preview it, it changes to
some common typeface like Ariel, I guess. Also changes to Ariel when I
preview in browsers. Okay, this happened for Comic Sans. So, I changed to
Andy. It carried over into preview and even into preview in browser. Fine,
right? Then, after closing out my website, Then going back in to work, in
design view, I can use what I want , but it changes over in preview view. Is
this software always this frustrating? Here I am just getting started and
already I have found 2 bugs I don't know how to fix. I am a beginner, but
this shouldn't be this hard to figure out, should it? (I am the person with
the bullet pictures that won't load) Please help. Thanks.

1. All users must the font installed on their machine, and Andy is not a common font. If the font is
not install, then in most cases, the user will see Times Roman as the font.

2. Are you actually selecting your text and assigning the font to it or are you assigning the font
via CSS?

You should know that a browser will only be able to display a font that is installed on the user's machine. Andy (which I'd not heard of before - and I have over 500 fonts on my machine) is not likely to be on your viewers machines...they'd have to install it to see it [aint gonna happen]...so they will see whatever series of default fonts you specify on your code. Arial, New Times, Tahoma, etc.

If you really want them to see Andy you'd have to make it a graphic...and thats not recommended for anything more than maybe a banner or headings.

There are very few fonts that are safe to use on websites, as the user must have
the same font you design with on his/her website to view it properly. For regular
text, you will need to confine yourself to Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman,
Courier, and Verdana, probably. Comic Sans and Andy (whatever that is) are not
considered common fonts. If you wish to use these fonts --- and it's suggested
you do so sparingly --- you must create a graphic of them and insert that in your
web page. There is no other way to be sure your viewers will see the site as you
designed it.

Arial, helvetica, verdana, trebuchet, sans-serif
Georgia, Times, "times new roman", serif
Courier, "Courier New", monospace

That's about all you get.

I use Tahoma too, may not be 'web-safe' but most people have it on their machines.

Heck, as long as you include it in a family listing where at least one
member is websafe, you can use Braggadocio, or Broadway, for example.

Lest we forget, we should always consider the MAC users, unless it's a
personal site where you are concerned about customers or prospects.

Then any idea why it won't work in Frontpage 2003 with my browser being
Internet Explorer 6.0? (Doesn't make sense to me). Thanks anyway. Luckyjsw

Ok...let's backup..*how* are you applying the font-face to the design?

The default font is the font that shows in the browser when no fonts have
been defined for the page content. In FrontPage you can set a default font
which serves the same purpose. I use a very ugly font for the default so
that I can see at a glance where I have not formatted the text.

It sounds as though you have defined a default font, but have not formatted
the text, so in FrontPage normal (design) view it shows as Comic Sans, but
in a real browser (and FP preview) it will show as the default font defined
in the browser - usually Times New Roman.

You need to actually apply a font to the text on the page. Highlight the
text, and alter the font and font size to suit your design.
