trouble shooting DOS prompt

my system gets restared when i enter in to the dos shell plz get me the info
on how to
get out of this mess

How are you starting the command shell?

Start | run | cmd <enter> ?

Yeah, that sounds a bit of a mess. Try a recent system restore point, if you
have one.
[Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore]

and /or get hold of a virus / spyware scanner to see if you can clean things
up a bit

You mean it restarts if you open a cmd window? Clean boot to see if a
program is causing it then track down which one. Click start | run | type
msconfig and goto the startup tab and disable all the startup items. Reboot
and see if you can open the cmd window. If you can you know its one of the
programs you disabled. Restart them a few at a time till you track down the
culprit. If its not then look at the non microsoft services on the services
tab.
