I have 3 pcs running Windows XP on a home network. Each was set up as part
of the same network, all are running NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Two of the pcs can
see each other and access files on each other. The third pc can see the
other two, and can access files on them, but the first two have no access to
the third. Any ideas? Let me know if you need more info.

The most likely problem is that a firewall on the third computer is
blocking access. It could be XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall or Windows Firewall, or it could be a firewall program
(Norton, McAfee, PC-cillin, ZoneAlarm, etc).

I have the exact same problem. I'm not using any firewall (the Windows
firewall is turned off even). Opening up My network places takes an
unusually long time (~1 min). Cant access my workgroup or any other PCs
on the network, yet my DSL is working fine (I connect thru the network
to the internet).

Let me know if you get it working.

My problem with accessing the shared folders was resolved by Steve's reply -
it turned out that the problem PC was running a newer version of McAfee and
it wasn't configured to allow access to our LAN.

As to your timing problem - are there any old computers in your workgroup
that are no longer connected? We had that same problem and once we deleted
all the references to the disconnected PC, the Network Places opened right
up. I'm sure there's a much more technical way of fixing it though.
