I manage a small network With 8 PC`s (No server). All PC`s are connected
through a switch.
On PC A there is a printer on LPT1 (HP lasejet 4). I have shared this
printer to use it from all the other machines.
On PC B, C, D etc. I can use the printer as long as i am logged in as a
administrator. when i don't`have administrators privileges i can not access
the printer.

What should i do?

On some computers, i am prompted for User name and Password to access the
shared printer, even if i am logged in as administrator.

Why is that?

I wonder

The first problem you have to solve is access rights. Since you don't have
a domain controller, each PC has its own ACL (Access Control List) to
control who may access shared devices. So if you want Tom, Mary and Frank
to be able to print using the networked printer on PC 'A', then PC 'A' must
have a user account with the name (and password, if one is used) of each
user who can use the printer; and they must be given rights to use the
printer on its sharing tab - unless you allow "Everyone" to use it.

Your second problem is most likely that not all users can add a network
printer. By default in Windows 2000, for example, only Power Users and
Administrators can add a networked printer to a computer. Network printers
are also bound to the logon they are added in - so, for example, if Tom and
Mary have "added" the network printer while they are logged in, Frank won't
be able to use it just because Tom and Mary can. He'll have to be able to
map to it himself to use it.

Start chewing on these, and if they don't help you clear up your problems
please post back with details on the operating systems on each PC, and so
on.
