Have got the trojan.startpage in one of my system32 files, NAV can't delete or quarantine file. Access is denied if I try to delete it manually. Have tried all trojan free software possible, but still have the problem. not causing any problems, but can't get rid of the norton dialogue box from desktop.

Did you disable your system restore and reboot into Safe Mode like the
instructions on Symantec site (above) say to? (
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310405 )

You could also use CWShredder:
(But since you tried "all trojan free software possible" - You probably
already did,
eh?)http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html#cwshredder

Also, Hijack This! would be a good thing to run after CWShredder:

There is also:

http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_STARTPAGE.F
(Depending on the variant)

Google. Yep.

Hi, me again. Have tried cwshredder, ad aware, spybot, trojan hunter, trend micro. Didn't want to purchase Hijack this
Have deleted many sys registry values that have appeared (aifind and mywebsearch), but the sys32 file ctrlpan.dll file will not delete, repair or quarantine in any mode, whether it be safe, normal or administrator. Hope there is another answer other than reformatting. Thanks.
