Trogen infection

I have gotten notice that I have:
1) Trogen downloader Alchemic.A
2)Trogenhorse downloader.AS

Both of these are in WINDOWS, and I am told to run the AVG
for Window's, but do not know how to do that. I am very
new and learning the computer by trial and error. This
last week mostly by error.

I have grisoft AVG, and have tried to clear these up, by
putting them in the Virus vault, but when I do this, the
computer freezes up, and I have to reboot, and loose
everything that I have started. I retry and the same
thing happens.

It will not clear either virus, nor will it put it in the
vault. H E L P

I've been trying to clear this up for a week now, and am
at my wit's end.

I did not use the Norton's offer when I bought this
machine in 2002, is there any way or how do I go about
installing the "trial offer" ? Is it still available to
me?

Please Advise.
