It's not bad, but it's getting pretty old, and doesn't seem to be
under development any more. Last release was 2003, I think, it's based
on Mandrake 9.1. And despite the claims in the general description, if
you check the forums, you'll see that NTFS partitions cannot be
written to.
I think System Rescue CD is better, at
http://www.sysresccd.org. It is
built on the Gentoo distribution. It has more recent tools, and he
tells you how to load the "captive ntfs driver" so you can read/write
to ntfs partitions (read access is available out-of-the-box).
Unfortunately, development here has also slowed, the last release was
August 2004, and not much work since then, as far as I can see.
There are a good many of these tools (linux-based system recovery and
repair) available now. System Rescue CD is, IMO, one of the better
ones.
