Situation: My Dell Inspirion 8200 laptop experienced a head crash, and no
longer boots into Windows XP Pro.

Since I need a desktop anyway, I purchased a Dell Dimension 2400 system with
Windows XP Home.

I have discovered that I can still read some of my files and documents using
a product called "ReadNTFS.exe", at www.ntfs.com, which runs in DOS mode.

I have obtained a DOS network boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, which
successfully boots either computer into DOS mode, and seems to load network
drivers.

The problem: neither computer seems to recognize it's own hard drive. --
C:\ in both cases. Is there an easy tweak to the AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS
that would allow me to access the C: drive? Might be a dumb question, but
it's been a while since I worked in DOS.

With the new computer, going to my computer, the C: drive
isnt listed?
Or if you can run xp,what drive is the OS on,if not
C: it should be,go to windows update,it will show the
drive its installing to,it should be C:.If youre trying
to open a second(slave) drive, open it in my compter.
Theres really nothing to add-on to xp,the thitd party
installs youve done,xp already has the functions.
