i download a trial screensaver and after deciding that i don't care for it, then getting rid of it by using recycle bin, delete commands, or red cross out icons wherever i see listed has no effect, how come?

Screensavers are generally copied to the 'Windows' or 'System' folder. You
may want to do a search for *.scr within the Windows folder, and you will
probably find the one that is not uninstalling correctly. Delete it when
you see it, then right-click on the desktop and go to Properties. Then
click on the 'Screensaver' tab and select a different one from the list.
