What is "tray app"?

Does this message appear if you login to safe mode? Restart the computer,
as the BIOS screen disappears repeatedly tap the F8 key until the Advanced
Options menu appears. Select Safe Mode and press enter. Login to the
account with the problem. Does the message appear? If not reboot into
normal mode and do some clean boot troubleshooting to see what's causing
this message to appear.

Vongo and All-in-Wonder graphics cards use that terminology, though any
application might, if their tray app couldn't be loaded.. What's
missing from the tray/notification area?
