Transporting computer components through Airport

I have to go overseas soon, and am taking computer parts with me for a
friend.

Just want to know if there are any implications on say transporting the HDD
through airport x-rays and the likes?

I'll be taking a case, with the motherboard still boxed within the case as
well as the keyboard+mouse (being crafty here) will be checked in with a
good FRAGILE sticker over the box. The CPU, RAM and HDD i'll take on-board
with me, as well as a tv-card... and that's about it for the computer.

Any ideas folks?

(I was going to take a CRT screen with me - but too heavy! Would love to
take an LCD screen - but too pricey).

Get there early. I brought a HD home on my last trip to SAN and placed
in in my carry on bag. I expected that the Xray would detect it and
they would open the bag, but it was much more than that. After being
searched, scanned and otherwise questioned, after a half hour I asked
what I should have done to avoid all this suspicion? They told me I
should have removed the HD from the bag and placed in in a plastic tray.
Between you and me, I don't think it would have made any difference.

I packed a hd in my checked luggage but I since I'm on the watch list my
checked luggage is scanned anyway. HD survived no problem.

I fear this would happen...

I think what I might do is just bubble wrap the HDD, pop it into the
check-in and hope for the best. I know you are not supposed to throw HDD's
around, but here's hoping that it's not too much of a drama.

Cheers
