Transparent Pages

I've recently had to rebuild my system which had the facility to produce a
file or folder on the desktop, so that when you placed the cursor on the
title bar at the top of the file or folder, hold down the left mouse key and
this would make the page transparent allowing you to read what was
underneath. Unfortunately I have forgotton the path to this feature, can
anyone help please

This sounds like the "show window contents when dragging" setting. If
disabled, the window would become transparent when "grabbed" by the mouse.

To get to this setting, right click My Computer and select Properties. On
the Advanced tab, go to the Performance section and click Settings. On the
Visual page, you'll find a long list of different visual features/effects
including "show window contents." Uncheck the box. OK your way back to the
desktop.
