transparent curves?

I've drawn a couple asymptotic lines (dotted lines) on a chart and would
like to know if there is a way to draw the actual curve (which follows
these lines) to make it look like it was drawn with a highlighter. In
other words, I'd like the actual curve to be transparent or
semi-transparent so that you can still see the dotted lines. Thanks for
any help, including telling me it can't be done.

How about drawing the yellow line first, with the dotted lines on top of it?
