Using Windows XP, I would like to transfer 100+ photos from my old computer
which used Windows 98 and does not have a CD burner, to my new computer
which has Windows XP. Is there an easy, hopefully free, way to do this? I
tried emailing each photo to myself but you can imagine what a hassle that
is. Thanks for any replies.

If you are behind a router, enable file sharing. Then share the folder where
the files are stored.

Or if you are not behind a router and if you have a RJ45 network card in
both computers, buy a crossover Ethernet cable and connect the two computers
together, run the Network Wizard and enable file sharing. Then share the
folder where the files are stored.

Or remove the CD burner from the XP system and install it in the 98 system
temporarily.
