transferring ownership?

A friend just sold me his older copy of XP and I installed in in my Virtual
PC. Anyone know how we transfer ownership over to me so I can get the code
to unlock the software?

There is nothing to transfer.
Your friend removed Windows XP from his computer?
If so and you have the original Product Key and CD, you should be OK.
Install and activate by internet.
If internet activation fails, choose option to activate by phone.
Call Microsoft at displayed number, done in about 5 minutes.
