Hi..
I'd appreciate all you wonderfuls who may help me here to keep in mind I'm
sorta a dummy with computers:
I bought a new (used) laptop with Win 2000. I want to know if I can put my
old OS (Win XP) and all that's in it on my new computer? And if so (I
hopeIhopeIhope), how do I do it and do I have to take off Win 2000 first?
Thanks for your help,
Ms Jazz

If you have a tape drive to backup to (or network drive) you can backup,
then insert the xp setup cd while running the new machine in 2000, to
"Upgrade' to XP, then restore the backup of the old XP.

Hi MArk....Thanks for the help...I need just a bit more please. I do have a
tape drive CDRW to backup but what do I backup? Also, I don't have XP setup
because my OS (XP) came already installed on this computer. I do have
restore disks (5 of them) if that's what you mean. Can these be used on the
2000 machine? Over Win 2000?
Also, my main thing I want to do is put XP on my 2000 machine. The info and
other stuff isn't such a bif deal because I don't have alot of stuff.

Thanks Mark....A lot!!
Ms Jazz

Those kind of disks only work on the machine they came with, or one just
like it.
