I have microsoft office on my computer but I can not find the software
anywhere. I need to transfer some things to my laptop because my desktop is
on its last leg. When I transfer the office folder, the programs will not
work on the laptop. Is there any way to get these to work without the actual
disk?

No. Like most Windows programs, Office relies heavily on registering its
application programs in the Windows registry, and the installation program
on the disk is the thing that does the registering. Without that, the
programs can't work.

If your copy of Office was a retail boxed version, you should be able to get
a new disk by following these instructions:

If it was an OEM (bundled) version that came with the old computer, the
license doesn't allow you to move the program to any other computer.
