How can I transfer my saved email messages from Outlook
Express on my desktop to Outlook Express on my new laptop?

I have tried importing from the stored directory on my
desktop via my network but receive an error message that
says there are no files or the files may be in use by
another application.

I have closed Outlook Express on my desktop when doing
this and have closed all other applications.

Please help!!!!!!

I transfer emails from one computer to another by
dragging the messages into a temporary directory from
Outlook on a USB memory stick, then pasting them into the
inbox (or whatever box) in Outlook on the other computer.

This should work for what you are trying to do.

I ended up doing something similar last night after I
posted my question and before you posted your reply.

I moved the messages to the Inbox Folder on my desktop,
then via my network I moved copied the Inbox Folder to a
temporary Store Directory I set-up on my laptop. I then
imported the messaes from the Inbox Folder in the
temorary Store Directory.

It seems the only Folders available for import were the
Inbox, Outbox, Deleted, Sent and Drafts; even though I
had copied all of the other Folders from the desktop
Store Directory to the laptop Temporary Store Directory.
So I decided to work with what it gave me. It took a
little more work but it did the job.
