Transferring files between computers

I have a desk PC and a lap top. They both operate on Windows XP. They both
have Outlook 2003 loaded. How do I copy the files from my main computer to
the lap top. I tried popping the files on a memory stick and doing it that
way - but even though I've put them in the correct folder - the laptop
Outlook isn't picking them up. Any help or suggestions gratefully received.
