Sorry for sounding an idiot but help. I have two workbooks for recording
training purposes. I need the main workbook to automatically transfer
details of specific training to the personalised training log. How do I get
excel to recognise the individual names and details when inputting on the
master workbook so that it will transfer the relevant data to the
personalised training log?

Thanks in anticipation and please assume no knowledge at this end.

Instead of transferring the data and storing it twice you can filter the
main data to show only specific names.

Highlight all the data and then select Data > Filter > Autofilter

This will put arrowhead in the header cells. Click on the Names arrowhead
and select the name that you want to filter on and Xl will filter the dat
and only show the name that you selected.

Selecting (All) in the arowhead dropdown will show all the data again.

Thanks Sandy

I did think of filters, however, I operate on a shared drive and some of the
information will get mess up (trust me), therefore I was trying to avoid this
by getting the information transferred onto my travelling briefcase file.

I really appreciate your help. Have a good evening.

If the information gets messed up and transferred then the messed up up part
will be transferred as well. How would transferring it help you?

It would be possible to have a Macro transfer the filtered data to
individual sheets but if you are starting from a basis of a no knowledge at
your end that that may to a bit advanced to start with and it still would
not get around the messed up data problem.

Thanks for for the auto filter, I use this at the moment, but there is some sensitive information that should not be available for everyone and I have to supply each employee with their own xl sheet to make comments on and keep updating with the own development plan. Hence I need to transfer the data to individual work sheets.
