I'm getting a new computer but using my old RAM and HD (since it's 512 and 120). The old hard drive has tons of data on it that I don't want to transfer Cd by Cd after a reformat. I'm pretty sure XP is a non-factory OEM (it was bought a local store) and it's Home Edition. Will XP work on the new computer without the need for a reformat? And if so, what's involved in making it work

OEM versions of XP are tied to the system they were originally installed on.
I doubt if it will work at all when you move the hard drive and try to start
the system.

Greetings --

You say that you have an OEM license for WinXP. An OEM version is
_permanently_ bound to the first PC on which it's installed. An OEM
license, once installed, is not legally transferable to another
computer under _any_ circumstances.
